DAY AND TIME

  • 11:00AM: Kick-off at the Vance Monument (South Pack Square, Asheville, NC 28801)

  • 11:30AM: March starts from the Vance Monument (South Pack Square, Asheville, NC 28801) to the MLK park (50 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Asheville, NC 28801)

  • 12:15PM: Speeches start at the MLK Park

  • 1:30PM: March event ends

 

PARKING

The City of Asheville offers numerous parking lots and garages. Please visit http://www.ashevillenc.gov/departments/parking/garage_info.htm  Arrive early!

UBER and LYFT

We encourage march attendees to car-share (Lyft and Uber).

Feel free to communicate with fellow march goers on our Facebook page to carpool. However, we encourage you to carpool with people that you already know.

BUSES FROM CULLOWHEE

Some buses from WCU to downtown Asheville and back to WCU will be available. Please contact our WCU Coordinator Shantel Sullivan for more information.

BATHROOMS

Portable toilets will be available at the MLK Park. One of them will be handicap accessible.

CHILDREN

Children are welcome at the March. Parents should be with their children at all times. If your child is lost, contact one of the police officers at the march immediately.

FIRST AID

We will have a mobile / bike First Aid unit at the Vance Monument and a First Aid station at the MLK Park. If you have a life-threatening emergency, you should call 9-1-1.

DOGS

Dogs are welcome but they must be on a tight leash at all times. 

INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Volunteers will be stationed at the beginning of the march to provide assistance to individuals with special needs. One portable toilet at the MLK Park will be handicap accessible.

SIGN LANGUAGE

Four sign language translators will be available. Two will be on the podium during the entire length of the speeches at the Vance Monument and at the MLK Park.
