Volunteer Roles:

  • Fundraising

Assist with finding donors to cover the expenses for the organization of the March. Direct donors to the GoFundMe page (www.gofundme.com/womensmarchavl)

  • Social Media Sentinels

Assist with the promotion of the March via your social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) prior, during, or after the March.

  • March Merchandise Packing and Mailing (NO LONGER NEEDED)

Assist with the packing and mailing of t-shirts, mugs and/or baseball caps sold through the march’s online store. This task requires meeting at a specific location in or near Asheville. Place labels on envelopes, insert t-shirts in envelopes, and seal. Task can be performed while sitting.

  • Setup and Break Down

Setup: Assist with general setup tasks such as hanging signs, etc. Should be able to lift about 10 pounds.    Break down: Assist with general break down tasks such as taking down signs, picking up signs, etc. Should be able to lift about 10 pounds.

  • Check-In

Greet Volunteers as they arrive. Check their name against list provided. Check them off list. Issue Credential as appropriate. Direct them to assigned location. Can be done seated if required.

  • March Guides (walkers or stationed)

Walk with marchers with March t-shirt or poncho (will be provided). Stationed March Guides will be stationed at the main street intersections to guide walkers. Ability to either march 1 mile + or to stand up for a minimum of 1 hour. Preferably, this person should have a cell phone.

  • ADA Monitor and Walker

Monitor and assist with access for people with disabilities and provide assistance to them, as needed. Preferably, this person should have a cell phone.

  • Floater

Floaters will assist with miscellaneous tasks that come up at the event or will fill in any of the other roles as needed. Should be familiar with each of the other roles’ responsibilities. Preferably, this person should have a cell phone.

  • Photographer

Must provide own equipment, must sign release. Take photographs throughout event in assigned location. Upload photos to designated online repository within 48 hours.

  • Videographer

Must provide own equipment, must sign release. Take video throughout event in assigned location. Upload video to designated online repository within 48 hours.

  • Police Officers (NO LONGER NEEDED)

North Carolina Registered and licensed police officers for the duration of the event (11AM to 1PM)

  • EMT Certified (NO LONGER NEEDED)

We need two EMT certified individuals to staff our First Aid unit (Two shifts possible: 10:30AM to 12:30PM at the Vance Monument and/or 12PM to 2PM at the MLK Park)

  • Voter Registration (NO LONGER NEEDED)

Provide voter registration forms to people. Assist with filling them out if necessary. Collect forms once completed and return them to Voter Registration coordinator. Voter Registration training will be provided in advance. Standing up during the march is required.
